About Eighty-Eight Brewing Company

We have set up shop in Ramsay, the heart of Calgary's historic Brewery District.

The Brewery

Besides housing our amazing team and two brewhouses, the brewery showcases tons of experimental beers only available onsite. We are happy to give free tours and always have lots of delicious cold beer on tap!

Our Process

Every beer at Eighty-Eight starts as a conversation. From start to finish we sweat the details, so our beer is accessible, experimental and best shared with friends.

Collabs & Partnerships

We wouldn't be here without a little help from our friends. From local partnerships to breweries that have helped us along the way, we owe everyone a solid!

Wave Pool   (3.79/5)

A tropical inspired IPA that is more fun than a rec centre birthday party!

This gateway IPA is hopped with juicy, tropical hop varietals -- Amarillo, El Dorado and Ekuanot (Equinox) and finished with a yeast that drives the mango, pineapple and stone fruit flavours.

Style: IPA - American

ABV: 6.2%    IBU: 68

Ring Pop   (4.03/5)

We harnessed the power of a Norwegian Kveik yeast to ferment this beauty fast and hot.  The result is a sexy, hazy golden yellow brew that is a tornado of hops, juice and party.  It smells like a boozy tropical fruit salad!  Pineapple, papaya and melon flavours dominate with a nice touch of red berry provided by the Barbe Rouge and Mosaic hops.

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 7.2%    IBU: 50

Duotang   (3.75/5)

Nothing represented order more than locking those notes in your paper folder. This delicious dry hopped sour is about taking the power back. Let loose and pucker up!

Style: Sour - Other

ABV: 5%    IBU: 8

Tiffany   (3.58/5)

It's Complicated.

Don’t let the scrunchie fool you, Tiffany likes to let her hair down. Bright pink with a sassy tartness, it's a dance off between our Golden Ale and red wine grapes. The result is a bone dry, crazily crushable, dangerous lover friend.

Style: Farmhouse Ale - Saison

ABV: 8%    IBU: 24

Link Back: Tiffany - Brewed In Calgary AB

Hologram   (3.52/5)

More than meets the eye, this multidimensional dry hopped Belgian White has citrus flavours from every angle. Transforming from lemon-orange hop aromas to real tangerine peel taste, you'll never see a wit the same again.

Style: Wheat Beer - Witbier

ABV: 4.8%    IBU: 15

Link Back: Hologram - Brewed In Calgary AB

Fruity Pebbles   (3.82/5)

Triple Berry Milkshake Sour IPA. Brewed with milk sugar and then soured with various lacto strains, we added equal parts raspberry, blackberry and blueberry puree to the fermentation and the dry hopped heavily with Idaho 7.

Style: Sour - Fruited

ABV: 6.9%    IBU: 37

Good Morning Vietnamese Coffee Stout   (3.85/5)

So Much Coffee! Strong roasted coffee and chocolate with wood on the back end. Sweet but balanced. Moderate to strong bitterness from heavy hop additions and roasted coffee.

Style: Stout - Coffee

ABV: 6.5%    IBU: 40

Link Back: Good Morning Vietnamese Coffee Stout - Brewed In Calgary AB

Double Dare   (3.86/5)

This recipe was born out of '88 love for humongous West Coast IPA’s. Its forward, aggressive and maybe even a bit brash. This is the bad influence. Go for it! What’s the worst that could happen…

Style: IPA - Imperial / Double

ABV: 7.7%    IBU: 88

No Bake - Nanaimo Bar Imperial Stout   (3.83/5)

Belle of the bake sale! Casanova of the café counter!! Prize of the potluck!!! The mighty Nanaimo Bar is returning to Eighty-Eight in liquid form!

Our one of a kind Nanaimo Bar Imperial Stout is now available for a limited winter run! Stickier, thicker and bolder than ever, we double and tripled up pretty much everything! Lactose added to the ridiculously long boil and then fermented with cocoa nibs and vanilla beans followed by a double dry hop of toasted coconut! This beer is as rich and decadent as you can imagine while licking your frozen lips! Enjoy this treat while it lasts.

Style: Stout - Imperial / Double Milk

ABV: 7.9%    IBU: 51

Easy Bake Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake Stout   (3.68/5)

Brewed in collaboration with Pretty Sweet Bakeshop and inspired by their amazing cake, this beer is rich, silky and over the top with flavour. Starting with a heaping amount of oats and boiled for over 2 hrs, the sight of it coating your glass like icing brings a tear to our grinchy brewers eyes. To finish, this beer it was aged on candi sugar, vanilla beans, cocoa nibs and the perfect hint of salt. It’s big enough for Santa and all of his little helpers, and it's so darn tasty that you can’t put it down.

Style: Stout - Pastry

ABV: 8.5%    IBU: 0

Warp Whistle   (4.08/5)

Nearly two hundred pounds of locally sourced Alberta honey were used to create the backbone of this Honey Hazy Double IPA. Add in some amazing specialty malt from our good friends at Origin Malting and you have yourself a punchy, creamy and undeniably memorable jooos bomb! Mango, Orange and of course honey hit you up front and as you play it fades to just the right amount of sweet with low bitterness, and an ultra creamy mouth feel. This beer is magic and one we are hyper excited to share. Best suited for adventures, alternate worlds & hidden treasure, this whistle is going to take you places!

Style: IPA - Imperial / Double New England

ABV: 8.4%    IBU: 41

Love Shack ('88)   (3.94/5)

A little old place where we can get together...Over a year ago we traded BFF necklaces with our good friends at Cabin and set our sights on a glorious collab! We present, LOVE SHACK, a Tropical, Zesty, Bright and Hazy, literal fruit bomb!! The nose is about as tropical as anything we have brewed and the slight tartness of the passionfruit adds a wonderful acidity. Glitter on the highway, you are going to want to meet us at the Love Shack!

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 6.8%    IBU: 30

Cassette   (3.44/5)

Created with extended play in mind, this table beer plays nothing but the hits. A clean pilsner malt backbone complimented by a bright Belgian yeast makes things crisp and interesting. A subtle spice and a light hop profile add just enough complexity to make sure you grab another and get to the B side.

Style: Table Beer

ABV: 4.3%    IBU: 29

Link Back: Cassette - Brewed In Calgary AB

Cecil   (3.57/5)

Named after the infamous Calgary landmark, this Belgian Dubbel isn't as rough and tumble as you might think. Sure, it's a touch on the dark side, but look a little closer and you'll fine some toffee sweetness and a little dried fruit all tied together in a smooth round finish.

Style: Belgian Dubbel

ABV: 6%    IBU: 21

Link Back: Cecil - Brewed In Calgary AB

Dial Up   (3.92/5)

Dial Up has long been a staff favourite for its more balanced and sessionable approach. It has a slightly tweaked malt bill from our usual hazy stash, it’s more medium bodied, and it has perfect balance between bitter and sweet. Hopped at 10g/L with Hallertau Blanc, El Dorado and Cascade it has amazing aromas of passionfruit, pear and pineapple, but finishes heavy on the citrus. In short, it’s lovely and worth the wait.

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 6.5%    IBU: 38

Link Back: Dial Up - Brewed In Calgary AB

Hammer Pants   (3.8/5)

Get your dancing shoes on folks! Hammer Pants is a classic, double dry hopped, West Coast Pale Ale that has long been our taproom go to for being a delicious and clean expression of the style. Finally available in cans, this beer uses Amarillo as a base hop with heavy additions of Mosaic and Ella which brighten the corners and round out the prominent flavours of pine, stonefruit and citrus. The subtle bitterness and clean finish make this a ridiculously easy drinking go-to for pretty much anyone.

Style: Pale Ale - American

ABV: 4.8%    IBU: 35

Summer Camp Crush II   (3.76/5)

A new summer crush!

The 2nd collaboration brew with our friends at Camp Brand Goods. This Paloma cocktail inspired beer is meant to be easy drinking with hints of agave, grapefruit and just the right amount of tart. Pairs well with the hot summer sun, friends at the lake and vintage lawn chairs.
Summer Camp Crush II may cause memories of sleepaway camp, late night campfires, and your first camp crush.

This collaboration beer, brewed with our amazing friends @campbrandgoods, is everything you want in a glass. Starting with a delicious sour base, we added salt, agave nectar, kaffir lime leaves and then fermented it with a load of grapefruit. The result is a refreshing, tart, citrus explosion that comes in at a perfectly sessionable 5.2%.
This is the beer for the deck. Hit it!

Style: Sour - Fruited

ABV: 5.2%    IBU: 8

Sticky Bandits   (4.09/5)

Meet Sticky Bandits, a mammoth 10% triple west coast IPA. This delight is like Double Dare’s handsome older brother (think Brand from Goonies).

We took a very large classic west coast back bone and treated it with loads of late kettle additions of Galaxy, Cryo Amarillo, and Cryo Mosaic. We then dry hopped at a rather aggressive 10g/L with same combo which has driven the armoas to points of literal madness. Extremely well balanced, its dank, oily, & juicy, with bright citrus, passion fruit and red berry notes. It’s a pleasure to behold and yes at 10%, you will feel it.

Style: IPA - Triple

ABV: 10%    IBU: 76

Link Back: Sticky Bandits - Brewed In Calgary AB

Skeleton Crew   (3.78/5)

Fig Newton Barley Wine aged on American oak and fresh figs, adding layers of complexity and fruitiness.

Style: Barleywine - American

ABV: 10.8%    IBU: 44

Link Back: Skeleton Crew - Brewed In Calgary AB

Power Wheels   (4.1/5)

Open this brew and the room will be filled with heavy mango, citrus and a touch of pine! Power Wheels drinks (too) easy, ending with a nice soft finish.
Brewed with the hard to procure Mosaic INCOGNITO (CO2 extracted hop resin), it's meant to solve the age old problem of how to jam in even more hop flavor without the typical pitfalls of going a wee bit too far, notably hop burn or grassy flavors.
Power Wheels, a hilariously hopped all Mosaic Hazy IPA with INCOGNITO, T90 and cryo Mosaic used through the entire process and then heavily dry hopped with Mosaic and cryo Mosaic. Should we say Mosaic one more time. MOSAIC!!

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 6.3%    IBU: 30

Link Back: Power Wheels - Brewed In Calgary AB

Happy Trails   (3.91/5)

This beautiful all-Alberta collaboration is a summery, crushable IPA made with white wine must, guava puree, and Nelson Sauvin hops. What started as a single recipe has turned into three distinct brews, with each brewery using a house yeast strain to make their addition unique. Get out there and try all three!

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 6.5%    IBU: 30

Link Back: Happy Trails - Brewed In Calgary AB

Happier Hour   (3.89/5)

Happier Hour is the combined effort of an amazing cast of folks who felt compelled to help during this unprecedented time of need. The proceeds from this refreshing pale ale will go directly to United Way of Calgary's Covid-19 Relief Fund, providing basic needs, community services and help for the most vulnerable.

This classic pale ale gives aromas of pine, floral and citrus with a welcoming amount of resinous and fruity hop flavour. It's very balanced, with very slight caramel notes. Make it a happier hour.

Style: Pale Ale - American

ABV: 5.5%    IBU: 38

Link Back: Happier Hour - Brewed In Calgary AB

Cup of Ambition   (3.64/5)

Brewed for International Women's day, "Cup of Ambition" is a Mango & Raspberry Slushee Style Sour and it is our most heavily fruited beer to date. 25%!!!! of the total volume of this beer is Mango and Raspberry! So that's a yes, you will definitely taste some raspberry and mango. In addition to blowing the budget on fruit we also hopped this beer with the @pinkbootssociety blend which includes Cashmere, Ahtanum, Citra, Loral, and Sabro. That combination of acidity from the fruit, tropical and floral aromas from the hops and sweetness from the base beer are in delicate balance, but it is tasting FARESSSSH!!! Congrats ladies of '88, you made a banger!

Style: Sour - Other

ABV: 6%    IBU: 10
