About Cabin Brewing Company

Cabin Brewing Company is a brewery, taproom and getaway in the heart of Calgary's growing brewing district, The Barley Belt.

We serve our craft beer, brewed on site, and pair it with a selection of hot and cold food items including New Zealand-style hot meat pies, warm pretzels with dipping sauces and cheese and charcuterie boards.

Take the time to relax with friends and family in our comfortable 45-seat taproom, or settle in with a book or a board game. You are welcome to bring the whole family; we have Lego, high chairs, kids snacks and a change table so even the smallest members of the Cabin family are comfortable.

Dawn Chorus   (4.05/5)

We couldn’t finish up 2019 without one final haze-bomb to carry us through to 2020! Behold, the Dawn Chorus Hazy IPA, hopped exclusively with hops from New Zealand!

Early European settlers to New Zealand described a riot of birdsong and insect chirps from wild and strange creatures as first light broke over the new land. Sipping this beer, you’ll experience something similar - a riot of tropical fruit notes like pineapple, papaya and mango with bright citrus notes of orange and grapefruit - all from the medley of Taiheke, Motueka, Moutere and Nelson Sauvin hops.

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 7%    IBU: 45

In the Hallway, With the Axe   (3.67/5)

All work and no play makes Professor Plum a dull boy. Was he the mysterious purple-clad figure roaming the halls of the Overlook Hotel the night the Grady twins died? We have no clue. We do, however, know a good mash-up when we see it. Like the salty and sour flavours of German gose beer, melded with the rich, dark fruit notes of ripe plum. Additions of coriander and wheat give a lingering flavour that shines. It’s to die for.

Style: Sour - Gose - Fruited

ABV: 4.8%    IBU: 10

Technicolour Dreamworld   (3.93/5)

The creative brains behind Cabin Brewing Company and The Establishment Brewing Company have conspired to develop a brilliant new beer that’ll change the way you look at IPAs.These wizards of wort have layered a kaleidoscope of exotic hops – Sultana, HBC-472, Cashmere and Ekuanot –over a solid backbone of Alberta-grown pilsner malt, with layers upon layers of pillowy oats and wheat to provide a sumptuous body. With some crisp acidity added into the mix, the beer is brought to glorious life. Welcome to Technicolour Dreamworld, where the flavours are sharper and the aromas brighter. Step into a bold new world of taste!

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 7%    IBU: 30

Pink Popper   (3.93/5)

New England IPA made with guava and Peruvian Aji Amarillo chiles. It’s a tropical fruit bomb, spiked with a gentle warming heat that lingers juuust so in the back of your throat. The aroma hits you like a slap in the face with a ripe guava and washes over you like a cool Miami breeze on a white linen suit.

Style: IPA - New England

ABV: 6.5%    IBU: 0

Lost & Won (2019)   (3.86/5)

Our Lost & Won Wee Heavy is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever before!

A wee heavy is a traditional Scottish ale that is rich, complex, malty and sweet. It goes perfectly at this time of year when the dark clouds form and the temperature dips. It is oh-so-smooth with gentle alcohol warmth that is perfect for sipping in front of the fire.

Lost & Won bursts with rich aromas of toffee and light caramel, with underlying notes of banana bread, golden syrup, butterscotch and dried fruit. The Scottish ale yeast strain throws off some wonderful subtle fruity esters reminiscent of cherries and berries.

The name and can design is inspired by The Scottish Play (aka Macbeth, by William Shakespeare). In Act I, Scene I, three witches meet in a deserted place amidst thunder and lightning. The second witch utters, in response to when they should meet again: “When the hurlyburly’s done, when the battle’s lost and won”.

Style: Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

ABV: 10%    IBU: 30

Ultraviolet   (3.65/5)

Fresh-baked cobbler - does anything smell better? We’ve captured the essence of walking into the kitchen on bake day with our first fruit beer. Wafting aromas of baked pie crust, vanilla and cinnamon emerge from the glass, which is filled by a beer of the most vibrant shade of violet thanks to an absurd dose of blueberry puree. Don’t worry beer purists - this beer finishes dry and clean, with a lingering malt complexity. A fruit beer that actually tastes like beer!

Style: Fruit Beer

ABV: 5.4%    IBU: 15

By the Numbers   (4/5)

When you brew a beer with Bale Breaker, you’d better bet the hops are going to shine! Surrounded by hop fields in the heart of Washington’s Yakima Valley, Bale Breaker is at ground zero for hop growing. They visited recently and brought two new experimental and very exciting hop varieties to the party, HBC692 and HBC630. We introduced these new beauties to some of our old friends – Amarillo, Comet, Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic – to create an IPA that is simply exploding with citrus, tropical fruit and stone fruit flavours and aromas – peach and tangerine especially. This beer is an absolute beauty. One sniff and you’ll be a fan for life!

Style: IPA - American

Here & Now   (3.62/5)

Here & Now started life as a brown ale; nutty, chocolaty and rich. It’s almost exclusively made with Alberta malt from Origin Malting and Red Shed Malting. But it gets kooky, real quick.

We’ve dry-hopped it with the experimental hop called HBC 472. It sounds like a sci-fi bad guy and is about as weird. Aromas of oak, coconut, bourbon, pineapple, vanilla, peach and a skiff of cinnamon. Yep, all from one hop. It’s unusual alright. In an awesomely mind-blowing way.

Style: Brown Ale - Other

ABV: 5.5%    IBU: 30

Movin' To the Country   (3.56/5)

Our latest homage to the humble cobbler uses nature's candy - peach - to capture the essence of walking into the kitchen on bake day. Wafting aromas of pie crust, vanilla and cinnamon emerge from the glass with subtle stone fruit. We didn't use millions of peaches, but we sure did use a lot.

Style: Fruit Beer

ABV: 5.5%    IBU: 15

Hive Mind   (3.78/5)

We’ve put the bee in beer with our sweet new release - a collaboration with our good friends at Drizzle Honey.

Our minds melded to design a beer that’s the epitome of summer. 100kg of raw #DrizzleHoney gives the beer a dry, smooth body and gentle spicy and floral aromas. Saskatoon berries lend a vibrant violet hue and a hint of earthy berry sweetness, while additions of rhubarb provide a most delightful bright tang.

Don’t fight it. Give in to the collective consciousness and let Hive Mind control your tastebuds. It’s bee-eautiful!

Style: Honey Beer

ABV: 4.8%    IBU: 15

Simple Pleasures   (3.77/5)

English mild ale is a throwback to a more simple time where people knew who they voted for and why, saw work as a wage rather than a lifestyle, and who chose their beer like they supported their sports team - because it was what you did and it wasn’t worth fussing over.

Simple Pleasures is what we drink to take life back a notch or two. There’s a ton of flavour for a light beer, with notes of light chocolate, biscuit, nuttiness, dried fruit – raisin, plum especially – and pours a delightful mahogany colour.

No pretension. No gimmicks. Just a refreshing, flavourful malt-accented beer that is readily suited to drinking in quantity (and at just 3.8% it’s perfect for having a few).

Style: English Mild Ale

Cool As   (3.72/5)

This beer is tart, dry and super refreshing with layers of complex lime flavours and aromas, balanced with a cool earthy undertone from the cucumber. Making this beer was fun! We hand-peeled 300 pounds of Alberta-grown cucumbers, and zested and juiced 200 limes.

We also added torn kaffir lime leaves and smashed dried Mediterranean loomi limes to give it a certain something that most lime beers do not. Light additions of salt and coriander bring the flavours together with a long lasting bready wheat flavour.

It’s not just cool. It’s Cool As!

Style: Sour - Gose - Fruited
